The Lakota people of the northern plains, led by Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse, were ground out of their way of life by the "Great Father" in Washington and his "Long Knives." The oppression was aided by other prominant leaders like Spotted Tail and Red Cloud who sold out and became accomplices in the demise of their own way of life. The story is heartbreaking, frustrating, and infuriating.
If we have learned anything from history, it is that we don't learn from history.
Does anyone else feel like our way of life, our freedom, and our lands are being taken away from us by a new "Great Father" in Washington and his "Long Knives" the press? Will we be forced to live on agencies of government health-care and turn in our weapons and sport utility vehicles? Will we be forced to send our children to the "Rising Sun" schools? Are those who ascribe to The New Tolerance and Political Correctness sowing the seeds of destruction of their own freedom and liberty?
History infuriates me sometimes with its injustice and cruelty. Sadly, I don't have to look back into history for righteous indignation anymore. I just have to turn on the news.
Just as in the closing days of the 1800s in the west; something special is being stolen.
